  Prince of Persia CD Collection
There is no point in really reviewing the game itself because Prince of Persia (PoP) has many accolades from its inception. The first version was released in 1989 by Jordan Mechner after four years of development and simply wow'ed the gaming community. Things like the innovative health bar and a new technique (then) called rotoscoping. This was game evolution occurring that changed what other developers considered the high jump bar height. Suddenly it was imperative to include these techniques to be a current computer game.

In 1993, Jordan Mechner stepped up to the plate and batted the ball out of the park with Pop2. And now PoP3D is going for the pennant with Red Orb's 1999 release. Is Pop3D going to be another TombRaider? Well, since TombRaider traces its lineage to PoP, this is unlikely as PoP3D will go further yet.

So what's in the box? The CD contains the first two versions of PoP as well as a movie (QuickTime) of the upcoming PoP3D. The initial versions are side scrolling adventures that will sometimes have you pull out your hair as you die and have to go back to the beginning of the level. They have basic system requirements and the graphics are simple by today’s standards. The manual is fairly explicit on instructions for movement and fighting as well as giving the codes to access the savegames.

Play the game that launched a generation of action and adventure!

This collection includes:

Prince of Persia 1
To save your beloved princess, you must battle ever more skillful swordsmen and explore a labyrinth loaded with death traps. But be careful, those spikes are nasty!

Prince of Persia 2
Your Persian adventure continues. Wield your saber, brave bottomless chasms, and escape maddening mazes that are filled with more than meets the eye!

Making of Prince of Persia 3D
The Prince returns in 1999 and this time in glorious 3D. Watch the 12 minute "Making of" movie inside to get the first look anywhere!

The Bottomline...........

This collection is a good value at a extremely reasonable price. Coordination is necessary but you will get the hang of it pretty quick. The learning curve is slight but reading the manual will clear the way into some funfilled hours of entertainment. PoP(2) is stable by anyone’s definition and if you like classic action/adventure games, the Prince of Persia® CD Collection, Limited Edition is a good buy.
