Mia: The Search For Grandma's Remedy
Here is a refreshingly new educational, youngster oriented, program from a Canadian company. The main character is Mia of course who is a delightful little girl mouse who is determined to have a great adventure.

The 3D rendering of the characters is simply excellent and will entrance any young child playing the program. The mouse is controlled by the cursor arrow (I am reluctant to say mouse for fear of being misunderstood) and it can direct Mia in all directions or if the player wishes to pick an item up they double click on it and bingo its done.

The installation process was as easy as placing the CD in the CD ROM player and it auto started and all you have to do is click on the install button. The computer has to be set to 256 colors or it will not work very well on some machines.

Some of the exercises involve rhyming of words with object, some involve word recognition with objects in a monopoly type of game. Although I found some to be a bit slow (but then I am 49 years old). The program is designed for kids from Kindergarten to grade 3, there are 4 levels of difficulty. Other topics covered are: Spelling, vocabulary, early reading, phonics, word recognition, and sentence comprehension

The voices in the program are very friendly and would certainly entertain any youngster.
