  Shark Tale (PC)
OVERVIEW
In the murky depths of the ocean, the fate of Reef City lies in the fins of one little fish—at least that’s what he wants you think. Dive in to the urban, underwater metropolis of Shark Tale and play as Oscar, a fast-talking fish whose little fib gets him into big trouble. Based on the DreamWorks animated feature, Shark Tale features funky fresh missions ripped straight from the film, the hottest hip-hop tracks from your favorite artists and more exhilarating gameplay variety than any other movie game in the reef.

REVIEW
I had just three days ago taken my own kids to see the movie that the game is based on so when this game arrived in the office I couldn't waste any time loading it up and giving it a good shot. You play the lead character, Oscar, and the game starts out with you being evicted from your underwater apartment and your ultimate goal is to gain fame and fortune and get your self a nice penthouse suite. Yo do this by completing mini games within the game ranging from races to dance compititions to helping other characters in their own dilemnas.

The graphics are really fantastic in your three-dimensional underwater world in which you can roam around freely and collect clams to purchase your penthouse furniture along the way. You also need a specific amount of clams in order to reach the next levels. Oscar can lose health in various ways throughout each levl and your health can be restored by finding and collecting sandwhiches hidden throughout the game.

You will need to use various gaming skills to reach the end of your quest including all out run for your life as well as the slow methodical stealth tactics. You can also collect urchins to use during the game to distract your attackers. Okay make that, you better collect those to use to distract your attackers or you simply can't complete the levels.

All of your favorite characters from the movie are in the game with exception of Lola for some reason. Although the game doesn't follow the actual movie storyline its still a lot of fun and does use video cut scenes from the actual movie in various parts of the game. Some of the challenges that await you will be sewer races, money bag grab, Coral Cola 600 race and even teaching young fish to dance to the funky sound track.

One of the areas I think it didn't do well enough is the save spots. While there was various uato saves throughout the game another way to save was to find a photo booth. Unfortunately these photo booths are only located in a couple spots throughout the entire game (Upper Reef and Lower Reef). So if you want to save a game in progres and come back to it you can't. You must start the level at the beginning.

Playing and controlling your hero is quite simple using the mouse and arrow keys as your controls. A basic setup that most gamers will be accustomed to so there really isn't any complex commands to learn which makes it a bit more appealing to the younger children as well as some of us 'older' gamers.

SUMMARY
The sometimes hilarious comments by such characters as Katie Current the news reporter voiced by newsperson Katie Couric is enough to keep you playing this game. More than once I found myself saying 'Just ten more minutes and I'll start writing ...". After several of these 'ten minutes' I found myself at the end of the game wanting more. The fact that I was able to complete the entire game in less than three hours was a bit of a suprise as well as a disappointment to me as an older gamer, but for the younger target audience this game will provide many hours of intriguing gameplay.

Researching the game as well also indicated to me that the games are completely different betwen the PC platform and Gaming Console platforms. So that leads me to my next challenge of beating the game of the Game Console variety. You'll also find that review on this website once its completed.
