I have recently received a small package from Asante to review. What I have found inside is a small gem. A very discreet device that plugged into my USB Hub will give me the ability to read and utilize over six different memory cards. I was using just one reader before but with access to only one type of smart card and now that goes and is replaced with this new one from Asante. It is great and the transfer of data is fast and efficient.

The installation was a breeze. I plugged in the unit and of course being USB, my computer immediately came up with found new device and was asking for the driver disk. I had to directed to the CD Rom and to the Win 98 folder after which it instantly zipped into action and installed the driver for this hardware.
Screen shot #1 will show you that it had created 4 new removable drives and the unit only shows four holes for cards but two of the holes form a dual receptacle for card, hence the ability to read six types of memory cards.

You will find the specs here below and I for one recommends this great piece of hardware to those that need to transfer files or download pictures off cameras that use the memory sticks. I found that if I have to transfer large files from someone's computer, I can install this reader in seconds and take all the files I need onto a smart card and then over to another machine that has a burner. Hey I just thought of something, Asante should combine this unit with a burner so that you can transfer info off a smart card or any memory stick directly to CD. Anyway, check this unit out and you will fall in love with it instantly I guarantee it.
