  Advent Powered Partners AV290
It has been a while since we looked at speaker systems so it was a treat when Advent sent us the AV920 for a test run. Now being the PUBLISHER of the magazine, I, of course get dibs on what ever comes in for review and I grabbed this one before my reviewers had a chance.
I am glad because the little $29.95 speakers that computer companies throw in their package deals just don't cut it when you are interested in real sound. First of all, here are the stats about the speaker trio for those technically minded players:

Amplifier Output Power (RMS):
Satellites:
10 Watts Per Channel
Subwoofer:
30 Watts
Total Harmonic Distortion:
1%
Impedance: 4 Ohms
Driver Complements:
Satellites:
1" Polycarbonate Tweeter
3" Neodymium Mid-Woofer
Subwoofer:
6.5" Long-throw Woofer
Frequency Response:
40Hz - 20kHz
Crossover Frequency:
80Hz, 3kHz
Dimensions (h x w x d):
Satellites:
8.37" x 4.00" x 5.62"
Subwoofer:
5.00" x 13.00" x 13.00"

Now this speaker systems has a number of really great options such as a mounting system on the sub woofer with separate volume controls for it. It has a mute button for quick silence. It also has a sleep mode to reduce the wattage use when it is not in use, but still on. It also has a head set plug in location too. I can't place the actual sound of this system on line because, lets face it, you will be listening with your speakers and so that would be useless but take my word for it they are great.

They feel good too and I know that sound silly but when you lift it (almost getting a hernia) you know that you have some solid speakers there. So as Mikey would say "I like it!"
