  Creatures Exodus

"Creatures gives you the opportunity to take part in one of the largest-ever artificial life experiments. You will be breeding your own unique artificial life forms, called Norns. Raise and train a troupe of cuddly virtual life creatures that live on the Capillata spaceship. Because they have neural networkbrains, Norns can be taught right from wrong, but because they also have their own, individual personalities, they may not always do what you want (or even what you expect!)”
- Kutoka Interactive.

Here we have another creature feature from Kutoka Interactive. Again, this is the ideal game for youngsters, or I guess if you're interested in just checking out a colorful environment full of virtual pets, it may do the trick for you as well. The jist of this game is to breed and raise your very own Norn creatures and wander the various environments with them. As you explore, so do they, learning right from wrong and what does what.

The game is set on a spaceship called the Ark with six vast environments. Each area of game play has it"s own ecosystem and dangers as well as an array of fun activities to take part in. Although the interface is primarily two-dimensional, the game flows very smoothly from scene to scene and I think it will be very easy to navigate for a younger audience. There are also other small creatures that dash about the environments and plenty of food and entertaining items for your Norns to interact with.

There are some fascinating features to the game that you should be aware of to make your gaming experience that much more engaging. For example, on the spaceship, you can construct machines that will assist you in protecting and defending your Norms as well as keep you in the know regarding their whereabouts. This is important, mainly because there are other creatures lurking about that aren’t as cute and cuddly as your Norns! Make sure to keep an eye out for Ettins and nasty Grendles who are intent on hurting your little virtual pets.

Another aspect of the game to be aware of is the Docking Station. This is where you can bring the multi-player online aspect of the game to your own PC. Here you can connect your Norn world online via your computer to other players and get involved with an immense online web of other Creatures worlds. This gives you the ability to allow your Norns to wander at will, leaving portals open to allow other Creatures to wander freely into your own Norn habitat. You are also able to quarantine any Norn visitors to ensure they are at their best health. After all, you don’t want any disease-ridden visitor to bring down everything you’ve created!

I think Creatures Exodus will be just as appealing to younger gamers as Kutoka’s Creatures Village. It brings in the same aspects of Village, and adds a new twist on two-dimensional cyber pet game play. Although there are only six environments to explore, the world in which they lie is vast and full of more than enough to keep child or adult alike entertained. I enjoyed the ability to control the genetic engineering of the creatures, giving you the chance to create a variety of healthy and unique artificial lifeforms. With luck, you will be able to breed a super Norn with plenty of smarts and a face that not only a mother, but everyone, could love!
