  SnagIt v.8.1

"All of the screen capture and editing functionality you'll ever need, in one simple powerful program. There are times when sharing exactly what you see on your screen is the quickest and clearest way to communicate. Using SnagIt, you can capture anything on your screen, then easily add text, arrows, or effects, and save the capture to a file or share it immediately by e-mail or instant messenger."

Have you ever needed to take a quick capture or re-work an existing image for a presentation? Or have you ever had difficulty communicating instructions to a co-worker or client? Don't have time to learn a complicated graphics program with a manual thicker than a dictionary? Would you believe that there is a program out there that is easy to use with a well-designed interface that can do all of that and not empty your bank account in the process?

Long gone are the days of having to hit Print Screen on your keyboard only to have to open up another program to crop and edit what you've captured. Of the screen-capture tools and techniques out there, this is the cream of the crop, proving to be the most versatile and user friendly. In fact, this unique program doesn't stop at just capturing text and images; it provides you with the flexibility to snag menus, videos, web pages and much more.

Let's get right down to the nitty gritty and delve into just a few of the fantastic features that SnagIt has to offer. Aside from the basic Region Capture, which allows you to quickly capture and edit part of a web page or image, there are some other features that I think you'll find quite impressive. For instance, you can create a quick tutorial by capturing or recording your own desktop activity using the Video Capture feature. Snagit also has a Text Capture tool that allows you to snag and edit text from your screen, for example, file lists from your Windows Explorer. One other amazing feature is the Web Page Capture, which allows you to enter a URL and instantly capture images, audio and video files from that web site as well as choose the file types that you want to download (for example .doc, .xls, etc).

Of course, once you've snagged all of the image and text goodies that you want, you may need to edit them. Wait…don't open up another program just yet! SnagIt has superior and professional editing effects. The Editor portion of the program gives you the freedom to crop, adjust color and resize your images as well as paint tools to create stamps, text, shapes, callouts, arrows and many more enhancing features. At this point, if your artistic appetite has not been fulfilled, you can customize your images further with professional effects like borders, watermarks, image processing effects like blur and sharpen as well as edge effects, including drop shadow, torn edge, and the list goes on. If that's still not enough for you, you can add interactivity to your captures by inserting clickable links or creating a flash hot spot that displays additional text or graphics, all without cluttering up your fabulous image.

Once you've snagged, edited and gussied up your captures, SnagIt makes it easy to share the brilliance you've created by email, Instant Messanger, or via the web; and because it's easy to copy your captures to the Windows clipboard, you can instantly paste into nearly any application. Likewise, make communication by email that much more efficient and comprehensible by inserting or attaching a capture into an email directly from SnagIt.

Capture, edit and share. Three simple words…three simple features. However, take those features, add a well-designed interface and professional editing tools and you've got what I think is one of the best screen-capturing programs out there. Whether you're capturing error messages, creating a tutorial or sprucing up a presentation, you can't afford to go without SnagIt, because hey, you can afford it!
